Just you may know, grisly is defined as something that is hideous.
Now that I look closer at Sago, I have to admit she can never be mistaken as an imported breed but rather a rescued or stray dog; a dog adopted from a shelter. I say this because her fur has a brittle texture instead of being smooth, her legs and paws are not that muscular and big, her tail stands up most of the time instead of hanging down, and her nose is pointed instead of having a square jaw.
A neighbor even asked if I bought her. It may come as a surprise that I did buy her for P3,800.00 from a Facebook merchant.
But it does not matter if I have been duped, or if I bought Sago from an unscrupulous breeder. Maybe out of utter disappointment, Sago would be thrown away or butchered if she went to another owner.
Growing up, Sago has been the sweetest thing that ever happened to me. Actually, I would never think of buying a dog if only we kept the stray puppy from my sister. All I wanted was to have a companion.
It turns out that Sago is a very affectionate and loyal dog. For this reason, it maybe true that dogs can feel their dog owners. Sago never wants to be apart from me, even if she is unleashed. Furthermore, she prefers staying indoors most of the time. She is indeed very grateful that she is well taken care of that she has not mated and given birth for 6 years and I intend to keep it that way.
In the span of 6 years, I've been a very hands-on furmom to Sago. She is carnivorous, and my family is unwilling to share our meals so I have to buy our breakfast. Moreover, Sago is like a human being who prefers variety in her meals.
My relationship with Sago is more than a master and her pet. I have come to treat her like my toddler daughter. I always want to make sure that I'm there for her in the morning to help her relieve herself, and feed her in the morning and evenings. She knows our routine, and she is comfortable with predictability.
Sago will be in her senior year next year. I'm not too sure how long she'll live which is why I'm writing this tribute. As her furmom, I dedicate this website to Sago, my first acquired pet.
